Complete the Electronic Travel Authorization
An Electronic Travel Authorization, or eTA, is a new entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals traveling to or transiting through Canada. Since its introduction in 2016, all visa-exempt foreign nationals traveling to or transiting through Canada are required to have an eTA before boarding their flight/vessel to CANADA VISA ONLINE. There are certain circumstances when you might be exempt from needing an eTA: For example, if you’re connecting directly with your final destination or if you’re traveling for an urgent humanitarian reason and there is no alternative travel option available. In such cases, travelers should apply at least 48 hours prior to their date of departure. An Immigration officer will determine your eligibility upon arrival at one of our airports or land border crossings.
Prepare your documents
Canadian visa applicants must provide original supporting documents with their application. This means you’ll need copies of all your passport pages and immigration documents, as well as any documents pertaining to family members and dependents who will be coming with you. As part of your package, including a recent passport-style photo taken within six months of submitting your application (the photo must meet Canadian regulations). If you are accompanying children under age 18, including details of who will care for them while you’re in Canada.
Find out if you are eligible
Before you get started with your online visa application, you need to find out if you meet the basic requirements for immigration. The Government of Canada has set out some simple criteria that potential newcomers must meet in order to be eligible. Some people who want to move from one country to another may not qualify, including those with serious health conditions or who are wanted by police. Find out if you’re eligible before starting your online visa application.
Contact a visa expert
Although you could fill out an application online, it’s best to have someone double-check your information. While we can’t guarantee that having an agent take care of things will make it easier on you, we can almost promise that having one do it will reduce your chances of errors and increase your chances of being approved. You don’t need someone who specializes in visas—many immigration lawyers can help out with these applications. It might cost a little more, but it’s worth avoiding mistakes that may cause delays in processing.
Submit your application
Once you’ve completed your application, you can submit it through one of two channels: Paper or online. If you choose paper, then keep in mind that all of your documents need to be originals (no photocopies) and will be submitted by mail. For example, if your passport is expiring soon and you don’t have time to renew it, then it may make sense to send in a copy of it along with your application. If not, an original passport is required when applying for a visa. It’s also important that all accompanying documents be submitted as originals; no photocopies are allowed. The second option is to submit everything electronically through one of our processing partners in British Columbia or Alberta.
